The Polish Road and Bridge Research Institute (IBDiM) is honoured to organise TRA2016 in Warsaw from 18th-21st April 2016. The Institute, a member of the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL) and the Forum of European Road Safety Research Institutes (FERSI), has established and implemented modern material and process solutions in road and bridge construction sector for many years.
“MOVING FORWARD”, the theme of TRA2016, relates to transport that implements innovative materials and technologies and acts in synergy with the various infrastructure modes – road, rail, waterborne and air. Above all, it means advanced cooperation in the world of science and business. Such cooperation is a priority in the current Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020, which has new principles of applying for European funds where the major fund winners are entrepreneurs who support the innovation process more and more effectively. The cooperation of various scientific bodies – both research institutes and higher education scientific units within the framework of scientific and industrial centres – is also significant. Such combined potential of all parties involved gives the opportunity for interesting and innovative projects to be realised.
TRA2016 is the perfect occasion for Polish researchers and scientists to present to the international arena practical applications of innovative project solutions in the area of transport, which have an impact on the living standard of everyone. These are carried out within the EU framework programmes, including in particular “Horizon 2020“.
“TRA Visions“, a competition aimed at stimulating interest among students and young scientists in the field of sustainable transport, is a precious initiative that accompanies the conference. It is worthwhile investing in the generation of young, ambitious and creative people who will have an influence on shaping transport policy in the following decades.
The Road and Bridge Research Institute, as the conference co-organiser, hopes that TRA2016 will prove to be a great opportunity to exchange experiences between the representatives of various players connected to transport, which is nowadays one of the most important branches of both the domestic and global economy. We are convinced that the presence of prominent experts and all transport system stakeholders, their cooperation and dialogue, will contribute to innovation in the scope of sustainable mobility in Europe.
