Call for abstracts (Closed)

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2012 gives all those involved in any surface transport mode the opportunity to present their work and their vision of greener, safer, and smarter surface transport for Europe and for the rest of the world.

The TRA2012 Programme Committee launched in January 2011 a call for abstract submission for oral or poster presentations at the TRA conference, which will be held in Athens, Greece, from 23–26 April 2012. The call was addressed to researchers, practitioners, agency and organisations representatives as well as industry representatives from Europe and all over the world.
In total 722 abstracts were submitted by 1330 authors coming from 43 countries. Following the closing of abstract submission, the abstract reviewing process started and was completed with success in July 2011. 660 abstracts out of the 722 submitted ones were accepted. All the submitted abstracts were evaluated by at least two reviewers being either members of the Programme Committee or external experts and professionals of international calibre invited to assist the committee. Full paper submission is CLOSED.

Invitation to submit full papers (Closed)

The TRA2012 Programme Committee invited all those who submitted abstracts which have been evaluated positively during the abstract submission phase, to submit their full papers according to the instructions provided in the TRA2012 website (http://www.traconference.eu/Paper-Online-Submission/full-paper-online-submission.html).
Full papers are undergoing a review by at least two reviewers. Paper review will be blind. In case of conflicting recommendations from the two reviewers, a third review will be assigned which determine the final recommendation.
All accepted full papers will be published in the Procedia, an e-publication of Elsevier. Furthermore, the best papers will be considered after the required content and format modifications for publication in certain selected Elsevier’s international journals such as Accident Analysis and Prevention, Transportation, Journal of Rail Transport Planning & Management, Journal of Safety Research, etc. The final journal list will be available in late December 2011.
Full papers should fall in one or more of the conference topics. The conference topics, which have been grouped into six main pillars, are as follows:

YEAR 2012
The Young European Arena of Research is a competition for early-stage researchers who are doing research in the area of all surface transport modes: road, rail and waterborne. The competition gives the researchers an opportunity to showcase their work to experts within the field, both on the internet and, for the finalists, at the Transport Research Arena conference in Athens in April 2012. Detailed information will be presented on the website in the near future.
